Rectangle Select tool - GIMP Tutorial
From the course: GIMP Essential Training
Rectangle Select tool
- [Instructor] In this movie we'll begin our look at how to make selections in Gimp starting with the rectangle selection tool. By default this is the first tool that you'll see at the top of the tool box you can click to select it or you can press the keyboard shortcut R. To make a rectangular selection just take the tool and click in the image and drag. After you start dragging press and hold the shift key to make the selection a perfect square or press and hold the command and control key to make the point where you click to be the center of the selection. When I release notice there is a square in the corner of the selection this is a handle that I can click and drag to adjust the size and shape of the selection and if I move my cursor around inside the selection I can see that there are handles on all sides and in all corners that I can click and drag to reshape my selection. This is great because it means that I don't have to worry about being perfect the first time that I drag…
