Create a clipboard brush - GIMP Tutorial
From the course: GIMP Essential Training
Create a clipboard brush
- In addition to the regular brush types that you can use, Gimp also allows you to make a brush from the contents of your clipboard. So, let's see how that works. In the brushes dialog, at the top left are two slots that are reserved for the contents of your clipboard. And these are updated every time that you cut or copy content from an image. The first one is called clipboard image, and it includes all the full color information that you cut or copy. The second one is called clipboard mask, and it is a single color brush with opacity based on the light and dark values in the clipboard contents. So, in our exercise file, I can make a selection of the dog's head... Copy it... And notice how it appears in both positions in the brushes dialog, in full color and in gray scale. I'll deselect by choosing select, none. I'll turn on the white layer, and target it. And take the paintbrush tool, and I'll select that clipboard image brush, and you can see the size is very large, it was taken…
