Copying and pasting between layers

- [Narrator] Let's take a look at how to copy a selection from one layer and paste it into another existing layer in GIMP. In our exercise file, if I look in the layers dialogue I can see that we have two layers here. One is a beach scene called surfboards and above that, is a layer filled with white called blue board silo. And let's say, this is the layer where I wanted to paste a copy of the blue surfboard. First, I need to select the blue surfboard and to make that easy, I went ahead and saved the selection as a channel so I'll make sure I've targeted the surfboard layer go to the channels dialogue, select that channel and click the button to replace any current selection with this channel. Next, I'll select the layer with the content that I want to copy or cut, which again is surfboards then I'll copy, command or control c select the layer where I want to paste, blue board silo and then paste with command or control v.
