Control layer opacity

- [Instructor] Let's continue our look at working with layers in GIMP by seeing how to control layer opacity. By default, the content on each layer in the layer stack will cover up the content on layers beneath. The content on underlying layers is still there, but you just can't see it. For example, in our exercise file, the red oval is on the top of the layer stack, and wherever it overlaps the content in other layers it covers up that content. But we can also blend this content with other layers using two controls: The layer mode and the opacity slider, both of which are found at the top of the layers dialog. Let's start with the opacity slider. Right now the red oval is 100% opaque, completely knocking out what's beneath it. But if I were to reduce this value, I'll see through the oval to the underlying content. And there are a few ways of using this slider.
