Add noise

- [Instructor] If you ever want to add texture to graphics in GIMP, you can do so by using one of the noise filters. In our exercise file, we have some text, and right now it's just filled with a solid gray color. But, let's say we'd like to give it a gritty texture, like concrete or stone. We can do that with the noise filter and there are several noise filters in GIMP and you'll find them all in the filters menu under noise. Most of them I don't find all that useful unless I was trying to create some special, odd, effect. But, the one that I like best is HSV noise. This one lets you add noise to the active layer or selection by combining various amounts of noise in the hue, saturation, and value of pixels. In the dialogue box we have four sliders here. Let's make sure their preview is turned on, and then I'm going to drag all of them all of the way to the left to start. The first one, dulling, goes from one to eight and it controls the randomness of the noise applied to each pixel…
