What is your role and goal for RE?

- It's always good to ask what your goals are for any project you undertake. The same is true for reverse engineering. You know, certainly, you can get a very high quality scan from a professional scanner or through the techniques that we talk about in this class, but now that you have the scan, do you really need to convert the entire 3D scan into a full solid model? Sometimes the answer is yes if you want to try to recreate something that is out there in the world. But a lot of times, you only need portions of a 3D scan accurately modeled in order to perform your reverse engineering goals. Maybe you're building something that will add-on to an existing object and you may only need small areas of that 3D scan converted. Or sometimes you may need the entire model converted in a more loose way, but then specific parts of your model might need to be in higher resolution in terms of the reverse engineering.
