Separating the knuckles

- [Instructor] We have the basic form but to create a hinge, we have to separate the barrel into knuckles, alternating on each side. To do this, we'll start with the sketch to create the gaps that we'll use to cut up the barrel. So let's start by turning off the top box. Then we'll start a new sketch and place it on the top plane of the bottom box and I'm going to zoom out so I can see this whole box in one view. Okay, to start, I'm going to sketch the end caps. I will use the two point rectangle. I'm going to start at the origin and then drag out a box to the side. The only important thing here is that the length is longer than the hinge and the hinge is less than five millimeters, so 50 millimeters is way more than we need but a good place to start. Then I will click on the top corner of the box and drag out an end cap. The only important thing here is I want to make sure that all of these boxes that I'm drawing are the same length. Now let's sketch the gaps. I'll start on that…
