Join Jomarc Baquiran for an in-depth discussion in this video Revolve functionality, part of Fusion 360: Revolve and Sweep.
- [Instructor] Let's start off with a revolve feature. So basically, a revolve requires two items in order to complete. It is the profile and it requires an axis. Here we have a circular profile and for the axis, we have the default which is the x, y, and z. Depending on the workspace we are into, a profile can also be not enclosed and for the axis, it can also be an etch or a sketch entity.
To demonstrate, let's head back to Fusion 360 and under model workspace, let's grab our line tool and sketch on our XY plane. Left click here. I'm going to create a line. Key in 50. Hitting escape. Let's select our line, holding control and selecting our origin. Left click. And right click, selecting mid point.
Next, I'm going to hit S to grab our Sketch shortcuts and type A R C, selecting center point arc. Let's drop our center point here, at our origin. Left click here. Left click at this end point and left click this bottom end point. Now we have a fully constrained profile. Hitting escape.
From here I can stop sketch. Heading to create. Selecting revolve. Our profile to be this half circle. Activating axis. Left click. And here let's select our Y axis. Left click. In this instance, we have now created a sphere. Hitting OK. Let's create another revolved feature.
Adding to our time line. Double left click, sketch one. Hitting C for circle. Hovering over our origin, moving to the right. Left click here. I'm going to key in 50. Selecting stop sketch. Heading to create, selecting revolve. Let's turn on the visibility of our sketch one.
Selecting our circle as the profile, activating our axis and selecting our Y axis. Hitting OK. And here we have created a ring. Moving forward, let's grab our revolve once more. And in this instance let's head to our create form. But first, lets add to our time line. Grab our marker.
Left click and hold, release. Selecting create form. Selecting OK. Let's head to create. Selecting revolve. For the profile let's select this semi-circle. Activating our axis. Electing the sketch instead of this axis. Left click. Hitting OK. So here, we now have a revolve feature under the sculpt workspace.
Selecting finish form. And finally, let's change our workspace to patch. Heading to create, selecting revolve. Selecting our circle. Activating our axis, selecting our Y axis. Hitting OK. And here we have a revolved surface. The next lesson we will discover the essentials of sweep.
