Processing OBJ files with Instant Meshes

- [Instructor] The one thing that you need to know about the Instant Meshes tool is that, it does not run off of STL files, it requires an OBJ file in order to do its magic. You can have a triangular mesh in STL, you can have a triangular mesh in OBJ, it's just an alternate format. So inside of Meshmixer, if you have an STL you will need to go to file to export and select the OBJ format. You say OBJ right there and export your file into OBJ. Once the Instant Meshes has started up, you would click on Open mesh and select your OBJ, like this and it will load into Instant Meshes. The process for creating a quad mesh is really, really easy inside of Instant Meshes, which will make this video one of the shorter ones happily. Once you have a model loaded up, you can see right here that Instant Meshes suggests that you will turn this into a 1800 polygon quad based model, that may be okay for you.
