- [Instructor] Picking up where we left off in the previous video, I want to give a special call out to one area of 3D scanning and this is the metrology and inspection. So metrology means, you know, to the science of measuring things and this is inspection and you might think that all 3D scanners are good enough to reverse engineer. If you pay $20,000 for a scanner, it should be good enough to reverse engineer anything. That's just absolutely not true. If we are on LaserDesigns Website here, and the process for creating creating scans to reverse engineer, maybe a case for your cell phone is very different than the process you would need to reverse engineer pistons for your engine of your car, where you might need extreme tolerances.
