Exploring color options
- [Instructor] There's more than one way to introduce multiple colors in a print. Let's discuss the options. So first of all, it's important to understand that full color prints like this one are not possible with FDM technology. If you want to use a full color process, explore other 3D printing technologies, but there are still opportunities to use color in your design. Color variation in FDM prints is created by using more than one color filament and there are a couple ways to do that. First, let's address color options with a single extruder. Your design options are limited to bands of color like this traffic cone. To create a multicolor print with a single extruder, you need to change the color midway through the print. Some firmware makes this easy. You pause the print, change and purge the filament, and then restart the print to finish where you left off.
