Join Thom Tremblay for an in-depth discussion in this video Collaboration, part of Fusion 360: Designing for Plastics.
- [Instructor] Collaboration is at the core of Fusion 360 so you can share your design with others and get their feedback on your idea. The most basic level of collaboration is built right into Fusion 360 in the Comment area. If you expand the Comments area, you'll see that you're able to add comments by capturing an image, commenting on an object, or commenting on a point. So you can select a point anywhere on the model and add a note regarding it.
When you post the comment, it will be attached to the design file so that anyone looking at the model in Fusion 360 or through the Fusion 360 web services will be able to see this comment when it was recorded, so that you're capturing the design history in time. To allow others to collaborate with you, there are a few different options. I'll expand the Data panel, go to my model, right click and I'm able to share a public link so that someone with Fusion 360 can review the model, start a live review session so that anyone that can open a web browser session would be able to see my model and be able to chat with me, giving me advice and seeing the changes being made in real time or I can invite people to the project itself by going to the People tab, putting in their email address which will connect them to the project if they have Fusion 360.
If they don't have Fusion 360, they'll have the option to download it or to use the web services to access the model. To go directly to my project on the web services. I can select the name of the project, and it will open up this project online. Here I can see all of the models in my project. Anyone that's been invited here can do the same. I can select a design, see any external data that it uses, see any files that it's used in, and any drawings associated with it, and I can even click on the Preview and open the model in the window.
Anyone opening the model can take a look at the view, can interrogate it by using measuring tools, add comments, and markups. And all these comments and markups would be saved for others to review as well. Tools like this are how Fusion 360 makes it easy to get input and insight from others to help your design.
