Closed mold manufacturing

- [Instructor] Let's now talk about closed mold manufacturing and the manufacturing systems that there are for closed mold. The most commonly used in the industry is going to be vacuum bagging and vacuum bagging is the process in which you take your fiber material and you either have it pre impregnated with your matrix or you saturate it with your matrix yourself. And then you apply that to the mold itself. And that's applied and pressed into the mold, we then apply vacuum. That can either be done directly onto the mold itself or it can be put into a vacuum envelope with vacuum bag and then that will be vacuumed. And that will press against the composite material and pull all of the excess matrix out and all of the air and voids out. This gives you a really strong, well constructed part.
