- [Instructor] Consumer goods range from the electronics we hold to pieces of the cars we drive. I want to stick with the automotive examples right now, but this is a consumer product that we end up modeling quite a bit. This is the driver's area of a vehicle and we get a lot of requests to scan the foot wells of brand new vehicles to come out with customized foot mats or mats for these, whether they are fabric or rubber, and the manufacturers want to know the shape of the foot well to create an accurate mat for consumer purchase. This is was a scan, this took about six minutes with my scanner to get this geometry, and I'm actually going to show you in real time how something like this would be reverse engineered. Obviously, we would take a bit more time to do this, but I want to show you how fast this can go. In a very general sense, you essentially trace the areas that you want in a solid modeling too, in this case…
