Get a brief overview of Framer X.
- [Instructor] If you've used Framer Studio, you've probably heard about its sibling Framer X in the news or read about it somewhere. If that is the case, feel free to skip this video. If you're completely new to Framer X, let's quickly introduce what this product is about. Framer X, like its predecessor, is a prototyping tool where you can design your prototype, add interactions, and even code into your prototype. We'll go over each of these tools in this training. Basically, the Framer team took the best of Framer Studio, in short its design, interactive building blocks, and built a brand new software with an improved UI and added a components approach and a marketplace.
The design section is a full graphics design tool that includes your typical prototyping blocks such as layouts, shapes, and paths. Then you have Components section that allow you to build and reuse components throughout your designs. We'll spend quite a bit of time on this subject later in the course. Also, the store is where you can shop for other components. And in most cases, someone already has built a component you had in mind for your prototype.
The term components might be new to you. And if so, it is basically a section or a block of your design on its own. A great example would be a button which is considered a component, but we'll go over in detail what a component is later on in this course. And finally, if you're a developer familiar with React, JavaScript, TypeScript, or want to learn it, all the components you use can be customized and pushed further through programming tools. So, as you can see, Framer can be as simple or fully customizable as you want it to be.
