- [Host] Users are individuals that wish to gain access to the ServiceNow platform in order to get things done. They have certain rights and abilities, such as the ability to access applications, modules, views, or rights, such as the right to create, update, and delete records. The user can also have personalized views within ServiceNow, including customized labels in a preferred language. A user, just like a coworker or a friend in real life, may be part of one or more groups. A group is a collection of users that share a common goal. Examples of groups include incident managers, change approvers, and service desk agents. A user can belong to many groups, and groups themselves can be even part of a larger group. Both users and groups can be assigned roles. A role is the name of an access control that allows users and groups to read and write to certain areas of the ServiceNow platform.
