- [Instructor] The last setup piece we need is to get Python up and running on your system with virtual environments enabled. As we move through the course, we will create and use different virtual environments for each movie which should help you get really comfortable with that piece of technology. First, you'll need to have Python installed. Head to python.org and follow the setup instructions for your machine type. As with Heroku, the installer is easy to use. If you are on Windows, make sure that you indicate that you want Python added to your path during installation.
Both of the current Python installations come with pip as part of the package on Windows. On the Macintosh, you can install pip with sudo easy_install pip. Check that your installation is ready by typing pip help. Finally, pip install virtualenv to get the virtual environment functionality onto your system. This command should be run as an administrative user using sudo or an admin console. Alternatively, you can run it with dashdash user to install it only for the current user.
