Enabling buttons and ActionScript without testing the movie

For many files, especially large and complex FLA files, testing a movie in the Flash Player can take a while. If you need to test simple button interactivity, you can do this testing directly from your FLA without even having to launch the Flash Player. For example, on the stage here I have an invisible button. If I double-click the button, you'll see that it just has no Up state, which makes it an invisible button, and when I roll to the Over state you'll see that something appears which is the skateboard, and that's really all there is to it. So let's go back to Scene 1. And then you'll see that as I click on that with a single-click that nothing happens on the Timeline. So to enable this button, I can go to Control > Enable Simple Buttons. Now when I hover over that, I can see what it looks like. So now let's disable that. So go to Control and uncheck Enable Simple Buttons. And now another trick is that if you happen to be using ActionScript 2.0, then you can actually enable simple…
