Creating an animated Hinge effect

Now we'll use an animating hinge effect to make the robot do the robot. If you're following along, I'm working in 05_Hinge_Effect.fla in the Chapter 05 folder in the Exercise Files folder. On the stage in this file, there's an instance of the movie clip called mcRobotDancing. Click the Swap Symbol button in the Property inspector. What we're going to do is duplicate the mcRobot movie clip in this dialog box. Select the mcRobot movie clip and click the Duplicate Symbol button at the bottom of the Swap Symbol window. In the Duplicate Symbol window, type mcRobotHinge.

And then click OK. Select mcRobotHinge and then click OK to close the Swap Symbol window. Once you've done that look in the Property inspector and notice that the robot is now an instance of the mcRobotHinge. Let's double-click the robot on the stage to enter its timeline.
