Copying and pasting layers
While copying and pasting frames has been possible for a long time in Flash, CS5.5 adds the option to copy and paste layers as well. One of the reasons you might want to use this feature is because maybe your main timeline is a little cluttered. I feel like my timeline is cluttered in here. Now I have 10 or so layers that are all part of the background. So I have my foreground layer, the bear layer, and then everything else is just on its own layer, and I'd like it to be a little bit more organized in that. So I want to put all of it into a movie clip. So to do that, I am going to select the eyes layer, which is the top of my background layers, and then Shift+ Click the sky layer so I have all of those layers selected, and then I'm going to Ctrl+Click any of the layers in the layer area, so the left side of the layer. So I'll right-click there and then I'll choose Cut Layers. Then I'll create a new symbol by choosing Insert > New Symbol. I call this one bg. Click OK. Right-click Layer…
