Working with layers
Layers are a great way of organizing your document, and they support a lot of functionality that can make your life easier. Let's take a look at layers in Fireworks. So every object you have on the stage goes into a layer. If I click on one of these objects, you see in the Layers panel, the object becomes activated. If you don't have the Layers panel open, just go to the Window menu, and select layers right here. It's part of this layers, States, Pages group, so you might just find it to the right underneath one of these tabs. We can turn layers on and off by clicking on this Eye icon on the left side of each layer, and right next to it, we can also lock a layer, so we can prevent people from grabbing our element. So, this right here, let me click back on that rectangle. There you go! So if I lock it, I can no longer click on that. I'm clicking on this background element which is right there. So I can lock any one of these layers that I can to prevent me from clicking and dragging…
