Working with bitmaps

Although Fireworks is primarily a Vector Drawing application, it does have a good section of tools for dealing with Bitmaps. So let's take a look. A Bitmap is a graphic that is made up of a series of pixels. A photo like this always has to be a bitmap, but things like logos and artwork with few colors can be represented as bitmaps or vectors. A vector shape is resolution independent. So whenever possible you should use vectors because they are scaled nicely without losing resolution. So Fireworks has a couple of Bitmap Drawing tools. I'm going to make a new document here to show you how to work with them. So I'll do 900 pixels by 500 pixels here, and I'll just get a clean canvas. You can see all the Bitmap Drawing Tools are right here in Fireworks. So you can draw with something like a Brush tool just by clicking on it.
