Join Ray Villalobos for an in-depth discussion in this video What is Fireworks?, part of Fireworks CS6 Essential Training.
Adobe Fireworks is a vector and bitmap drawing program which allows web and user-experience designers to produce artwork that is used in a wide variety of web and screen-based projects. Web designers use Fireworks for rapidly creating scalable artwork using various design and prototyping tools, easily mocking up layouts with multiple pages and symbols, creating click-through prototypes of web sites and mobile applications, and slicing, optimizing, and exporting graphics in numerous web-friendly formats.
User-experience designers use Fireworks for creating wireframes which can then be handed off to designers, applying behaviors to objects that simulate interactivity, and exporting click-through prototypes as HTML and CSS for client approval. Fireworks can be used for many types of screen-based projects, and it allows designers to create flexible and engaging artwork like this. Fireworks also allows you to import artwork from various creative suite applications like Photoshop and Illustrator and then optimize that artwork into formats compatible with Flash, Dreamweaver, Edge, and other web tools.
For designing screen-based graphics, Fireworks is the designer's tool of choice when it comes to creating pixel-perfect graphics that can easily be deployed across multiple projects, browsers, and devices.
