Creating graphic symbols
Symbols are a way of saving objects so that you can use them over and over. If you're familiar with Flash, symbols in Fireworks work pretty much the same way. To usually create symbols from existing elements on a page. In the Pages movie, you may have seen that we can share items between pages by creating layers that are shared to different places. However, in the instance of this particular section of my page, I'm noticing that when I go to different pages, I actually want that group of items to be positioned in different places. So just simply sharing the layer is not going to work because this object needs to be up here on this page. And if I go to the artists page, it needs to be down here. Same elements, I don't really want to repeat the work of copying and pasting some of those elements because I may want to change something about one of those elements later on and I want them to be upgraded everywhere, so this is a perfect candidate for a symbol.
