Creating 9-slice scaling symbols - Fireworks Tutorial
From the course: Fireworks CS6 Essential Training
Creating 9-slice scaling symbols
Whenever you create a symbol, you have the option of making the symbol a 9-slice scaling symbol. And that allows you to create a special kind of symbol that has or uses the 9-slice guides. That can be really handy when you're redesigning a site or an interface, so let's take a look at how you can take advantage of it. On one of these pages, I have a registration form, and on this registration form, I want to create a button right here. So I already have a picture of a button that I want to use right here, and I'm going to grab this button, but I don't want it to have the OK text in it, and I want to be able to resize it to make it a little wider. So first off, I want to need to get rid of this slightly gray area around the button. So I'll select it first, click on the Magic Wand tool, and then click anywhere on this gray area. I can adjust the Tolerance right here if I want to, but it looks like I did a pretty good job getting it, I mean, maybe go not as much. That looks pretty good…
