Build a healthy financial life-one week at a time. Investment advisor Jane Barrett and financial therapist Amanda Clayman provide weekly personal finance tips.
- Welcome to Personal Finance Tips Weekly. - I'm Jane Barrett. - I'm Amanda Clayman. - Together, we represent two sides of the same coin. - So to speak. - I'm an Investment Advisor who helps people move from being a spender to a saver to an investor. - And, I'm a Financial Therapist who helps people decode how thoughts, feelings, and associations shape our financial choices. - Our work brings us into contact with people everyday, looking for advice and guidance on how to build and live a healthy financial life. - And, if there's one thing that we've learned, it's that becoming financially healthy can be a challenge for many people.
- But, when you get there, options in life open up. - When you are financially secure, it's easier to take risks or explore new paths. If you're stuck in the paycheck to paycheck cycle, as so many people are, it's difficult to live up to your full potential. - We believe that healthy habits can be adopted and sometimes incremental change is the best way to start. - In this course, there's no silver bullet or magic formula. - Sorry. - We're here to help you learn key concepts, get organized, modify behavior, and live a financial life that's grounded in purpose and clarity. - We will be covering topics as diverse as talking to your family about money, how to assess a job offer, how the brain processes financial decisions, and when you should invest in yourself.
We'll also share tips and checklists for new grads, new parents, and New Year's resolutions. - The world is filled with financial professionals of different designations and they can be extremely helpful in getting your financial life sorted out, but they're no substitute for you. - See, it's up to you to earn money. And, how you spend and save it is also on you. And, having a growth mindset that helps you prioritize growing money versus just spending it is your responsibility, too. - A Financial Advisor can't sharpen your skills or change your behavior which is why we're thrilled that you're here to learn for yourself.
- So, stick with us every week as we bring you new tips on how to build a healthy financial life.
