- Are you one of the 150 million Americans who own stocks? If you are, then you need to know how the sectors of your investments are going to perform and the right economic sector data, like housing, auto, and energy reports that can help you get there. In this video, we'll talk about some of the ways that economic indicators for certain sectors can impact your investments. While national economic data like inflation and unemployment are important for investments in an entire economy, sector data are critical for investments in sectors, related to or impacted by that data. Some of the most important sector reports are for retail sales, real estate, energy, and agriculture. These can also have big impacts on your money. If a monthly retails report is good, you could see the stock prices of department stores like Target and Walmart rise sharply. And this could send investments for the entire retail sector higher.
