The timeline index: Your secret weapon
- The timeline index is one of my favorite pieces of Final Cut 10. It gives you a super power, sort of an EDL on steroids. The ability to browse quickly through your timeline. Let's take a look. Final Cut has a feature over here on the left called the timeline index. I think of it as my secret weapon inside of Final Cut Pro. I'm going to open up the timeline index. Let's close up our Inspector command four. Let's close up our effects. I'll have to hit a shift z in the timeline. I'm just going to go ahead here and pull this all upwards so we can see more of what's on that timeline a little bit more. I've maxed out my screen of real estate. I'll just make these a lot tinier. There we go, shift z. The timeline index is a list of every single shot on the timeline. Watch what happens when I click on the first clip here, the first element. It selects it and I can work my way down, and I can actually hit the down arrow going through the timeline index. And its selecting items in my timeline.…
