- We've talked a lot about the ways that music can add to the emotional arc of a film, and in the previous chapter, we talked about how you can incorporate preexisting music from production music libraries or other sources. Now, let's assume that we have a composer budget, so we're going to take the incorporation of music to a whole new level. Now depending on the film's schedule, budget, and workflow, the composer can be brought in at various stages, but certainly, the most important meeting that occurs is called the spotting session. Let's talk about this. Simply put, the spotting session is when the composer meets with the director and other creatives like the music editor, film editor, and producer, to go through the film to plan the music cues.
