An editor's thoughts on audio
- [Instructor] So at this time, there are two real frustrations I have with audio with Final Cut X, and this is the only spot where I'm only pointing out negatives. The first is there's no track-based effect. If I wanted to sit back and just effect Ron and do the same effect to all of them, what I would have to do is use the clip inspector to open them up and maybe take all of these, open up the audio, Expand Audio Components and take the audios from here and nest them into their own separate sequence, and that's really kind of an ugly solution to put in effect on just that track. It really prevents future editing. And the converse of that is that I got to do each one individually, and I guess this timeline index does a pretty good job and if I were to put an effect on here, I could easily paste it onto the other shots, but I don't think it's very pretty. And the other one that's just like that, and it's really timeline based, you kind of have to nest the entire timeline, is if you want to use an LKFS meter, and there is none built into Final Cut X.
