The difference between linking and adding to a library

Final Cut 10 by default, when you import footage, it adds it to the library. It's really important to know how to link it, if that's how you're going to work. Especially if you're working in a shared environment. Let's take a look at how that works. I'm going to close my library here. I'm just going to right click on it, and close it. I'm going to create a fresh library. File menu. New. Library. And library's where you're going to store all your footage, but you also have the ability to link edit. You can work either way, whichever you're comfortable. And you may be used to an editing system like Avid, where it collects all your media. Or a system like Premier where it doesn't. I'm going to choose create a new library. I'm going to put it on my drive with the other media here. I'm going to call it two import. I'm going to say save. And I'm going to import some media here.
