- Hi, I'm Ashley Kennedy. Welcome to Introduction to Music in Film and Video. In this course we'll dive in to the immense power that music has on the moving image. We'll explore music theory as it pertains to film, and we'll also look at different types of film score, and what each does in terms of adding layers of emotional depth, rhythm, information and commentary on the film. We'll talk about what it takes to dissect the goals and intentions of a film, and how to translate that to proper musical accompaniment that matches your budget and your goals. We'll also examine various music options such as using pre-existing music from various sources and libraries, or working with a composer to customize an original score. When you're finished with this course you should have a good understanding of the theory, application and importance of music in film. Let's get started.
