From being used to keep your tracks organized to helping you find the tracks you want, roles in Apple Final Cut Pro X can be used for a variety of purposes. Can they be used to help export specific clips? In this video, Nick Harauz walks you through how to use roles to export different versions of a project from Final Cut Pro X.
- We've created roles in the browser and timeline…in previous chapters.…In this movie, we are going to export out a project,…referencing subroles from a series…of English titles we created.…So I'm here in my Chapter 6.3 projects…and just draw your attention…to the beginning of the project,…there are two titles inside.…I've got an English title that's currently visible.…I'm actually going to select it and press v to disable it.…And now I want to select the second title a press v…just to show you that it's French.…What I'd like to do is export one version of my movie…with the English titles only,…and the other version with the French titles.…
And I'm just going to press v to show them both…here in the timeline.…I've added the French titles to a French subrole…under my title roles, and added an English subrole…under my titleroles.…Now all I need to do, is in my sharing settings,…is to flag these down and just choose…to export only one of them.…If I look here in my timeline index under roles,…I can select the English title, and here's the French title.…
