- [Jeff] This is Final Cut Pro X Weekly. I'm Jeff Greenberg, and Nick's not here. We're going to talk about using color charts while shooting. Big concept is, no matter what, I'd like you to shoot a gray card, preferably a gray, a white, and a black. Company like x-rite makes some great ColorChecker video items. Make sure you look at their video items, not their print items. The one on the bottom is called the Passport Video. These run between about $100, $150. I carry this with my standard kit all the time, even when I'm using my iPhone. And it means that I can check in post what I think I shot on set. Here we are inside of Final Cut Pro, and I've got a shot of the chip chart up and visible to me. On the top of this chart happens to be a white, gray, and black swatch, and at the bottom are a number of swatches, including the primary colors from my Vectorscope, flesh tones, grayscales, as well as a black-and-white with and without glossy and matte.
