Using the Blade tool

Using the Blade tool

- Our common need is to be able to cut our clips right where the play head is. That of course, is what the blade tool is going to do for us. Let's explore it. I'm working on here from what I just had, tops and tails. All I did was shorten some clips. I just want to show you how the blade tool works and it's b for blade. Let's zoom in on this selection here. Z to zoom. I'm holding down the Z key. I'm not tapping the letter Z. By holding it down, when I release, it turns back into the tool I had, the blade tool. Then I can cut here, elements, let's see, we'll cut that right there. I'll switch to the A arrow, I'll select that section. When I hit the delete key, it's going to bring everything up. I don't want that, undo. If I hit shift delete, it will leave a gap. That's how you can keep your timing all in line is by using shift delete rather than delete. If you hit a command b, it's going to blade wherever your skimmer is on top of on your main storyline. You'll see it's done up there…
