Splitting edits
- Splitting an edit is where the audio and video of a clip have different in and out points. When audio starts before video, it's referred to as J-Cut. And when video starts before audio, that's referred to as an L-Cut. Splitting edit points is a great way to smooth out edits in a project. Let's see how we can work with split edits when we expand clips in the timeline. So I'm in my 1.5 keyword collection, I'm gonna double click the project to open it. And we're gonna talk a little bit about split edits. That's where either video starts before audio or audio starts before video on a clip. And this is great to be used in a lot of dialogue situations. To kind of set the stage, if you go home tonight and watch maybe say you're favorite TV show or TV sitcom where two people are sitting down at a coffee table, you might see one person talking, right, and what you'll do is you'll hear their voice, but the shot of the person will be on the other person.
