- [Instructor] I have a couple really useful thoughts about working in a shared environment. Let's take a look. I just want to mention some best practices for shared environment. And by shared, I tend to prefer SANs or shared area network versus a NAS, a network attached storage. The reason is SAN does the mediation and has separate controls and NAS doesn't have the same level of power. The biggest things I need to do to Final Cut itself is the library needs to be set in the inspector to have its storage locations for its caches to be local. Now, it depends on where you put your library. If you put your library on the SAN, you're going to want the cache to be on your local computer. That's because you don't want all sorts of cache files to clutter up copying back and forth across the SAN. It wastes bandwidth. It's up to you where you want your media to live.
