Relinking exercise files

- [Instructor] Hi there, this is Nick Harauz from the Final Cut Pro X Essential Training series. It's come to my attention that when some of you have downloaded the exercise files included with this class, there's been some problems connecting to the original media. I want you to rest assured that the media's still there, but there's a few steps that we need to take in order to connect the files. So I apologize that has disrupted your learning experience and there will be a long-term solution put in place coming up within the next couple weeks. But in order to continue on your learning experience you can follow along with these steps here. I've headed to my Downloads folder where I've just recently grabbed the exercise files, and I went ahead to the Final Cut Pro X Library folder and double-clicked the main library that's used within this course. Now upon entering it, I'm going to be presented with a major problem which is all of my files appear to be missing or offline. In order to reconnect to this files, we're going to do is select your Final Cut Pro X Essential Training Library here at the top, and from the File menu we're going to choose to relink files. You'll see here that it sees all of the files that need to be relinked, approximately 176. I'm going to choose to locate all of them. And by heading to the Downloads folder if I just simply select the Exercise Files here, you'll see here that it's verified 173 of 176 files. This is exactly what we need. We're going to choose this as the option. Final Cut Pro's going to go through a few verifying steps. I'll choose to relink these files. And we should see here that all of the files are now reconnected. This is exactly what we need. So you can look up here and we can start enjoying the project files that take place by going to the Projects events and you'll see here it broken down into these series of chapters that we go through throughout this course. So hopefully this will help you reconnect to the media. Please feel free to ignore this warning icon here with the Projects events. This has to do with proxy files that are created in Chapter Three and the best part is that you can recreate them if you need to. All you need to do is go up to your Final Cut Pro library, right-click and choose to come up here to the Transcode Media options. From this screen you have to option to create proxy media if you so desire. So hopefully this helps you get back up on track for following along with the exercise files in Final Cut Pro X.
