- [Instructor] Hi, welcome to Final Cut Pro X Weekly. I'm Nick, and Jeff's not here this week. In his absence we're going to talk about proxy files for collaborative workflows. And that is transferring smaller file sizes for faster delivery. Some of these key concepts include, when you want to Proxy, how we can create these files in Final Cut Pro X with ease through a variety of different methods, and getting the other editor to link to these files. Now let's define what Proxy is. Proxies or approximations are just smaller files for faster editing. They're duplicates of your master material, and they have been commonly referred to as files that are used in an offline edit. An offline edit is your, not your master system that might have a lot performance, a lot of external hard drives which are extremely fast to perform tasks such as color correction, motion graphics and VFX.
