In this chapter, we're going to explore how you can find and repair audio problems. Now let's step in to 06_01 Marking Ranges and see what the situation is. Well, this is a great scene of Joseph and his dad reconnecting. The only challenge is it was recorded on location at the beach, and there's a lot of background sound, such as waves and seagulls and even the crew talking. Take a listen at a couple of sections, and you'll hear for yourself. (Mr. Dalton: So, you got a design for me?) Well, as you can see, even when the actors are speaking you're fighting the wind, and you could spend a lot of time trying to repair that using filters and equalizers but the easiest solution is simply to remove the sound that was recorded live and replace it with audio where the actors where in a studio and recorded it cleanly.
