- [Jeff] Hi, this is Jeff. - [Nick] And I'm Nick. - [Jeff] And this is Final Cut Pro X Weekly. We're going to talk about portable proxies. - [Nick] Or how you can take 4k footage and make it a little bit smaller and faster to work with in Final Cut Pro X. - [Jeff] So, literally, this is the problem. You have a ton of footage. It's taking up a bucket of space from your system whether it's 4k, whether it's HD, and you want to be able to edit in a coffee shop. You want to be able to go to the beach and edit. Well, proxies can do this for you. We're going to do this, take a look at this, by this idea that 4k can be large. And I'm not talking about what comes off your cell phone. I'm talking about some serious 4k footage here. - [Nick] 4k footage can also have a lot more demands on your system, 'cause it's going to need a lot more processing power in order to play back that footage in real time.
