The Final Cut Pro X Ecosystem

- [Instructor] Sometimes when you look at Final Cut Pro X forums there's a lot of discussion around whether Final Cut Pro X is ready for professional use. I can tell you that there are several different people on social media who use Final Cut Pro X. And if we're talking about feature film and television, it's used for that as well. One of the latest films that was cut in Final Cut Pro X is The Banker, that's available on Apple TV. And you can read a little bit about this incredible story on Creative Planet Network where the editor and some of the people involved in the film discuss how they had to learn and analyze thought process from scratch in order to edit the film. But they did use Final Cut Pro X for the entire cut and edit. There are other films from Hollywood that was cut on Final Cut as well. Including a Will Smith film that you can check out called Focus. And also several other television programs. When we talk about Final Cut Pro in action besides what it's used for, we should also talk about it's ecosystem. And one great thing about the Apple Final Cut Pro X page is the list of resources available that you should become familiar with. Some of these deal with third party products that will give you other capabilities within the application. And others have to do with training resources as well as documentation that you might find helpful. So you can see here the sub categories that are listed so this includes books, web tutorials, specific training, as well as white papers which are extremely handy and look at certain things such as the ProRes RAW Codec that you can use directly in Final Cut as well as how Final Cut Pro X manages your media. On top of that you could also see the series of community blogs where you can find out information about Final Cut. FCP.co is one of my favorites. And I'm also a big fan of Alex 4D not only for the blog content but for some of the free plug-ins that you can get if you've traveled to that site. Another great resource outside of that is Frame.io. I actually wrote an article for them a few years back on Final Cut Pro X and the amount of changes that have happened for the... Several updates since it's initial release in 2011. But it's a great resource for other articles and how Final Cut Pro X is used. As well as how you can add Frame.io as an extension. Regardless of the fact the ecosystem for Final Cut Pro X is very strong. Final Cut Pro X is being used in all different types of productions from social media, all the way up to feature films. Now it's our chance to get familiar with this application by diving into the basics in the next movie.
