- [Jeff] Welcome to Final Cut Pro X Weekly. This is Jeff, can't find Nick. I think he took his passport and went running somewhere. I'd like to talk to you about making safe OSX media copies, and no, dragging and then dropping in the Finder isn't safe. We're gonna talk this week about a good backup strategy, the problem with Finder copies, which is they don't have any verification, and then I'm gonna look at two utilities that do this, and the biggest message is that you need to do verified copies as a professional. You should have a backup strategy for your media starting on set, you need three copies. They should live in two locations, and one of those is the live one that you actually edit with. So to give you a feel for this, here is my camera card. When I'm on set, I'm gonna lock it right away, even before I make a copy, and that, by the way, is gonna live somewhere else.
