Join Nick Harauz for an in-depth discussion in this video Dragging and dropping files into FCP X and import settings, part of Final Cut Pro X Guru: Organizing Assets (2015).
- Besides using the Media Import window to bring in assets,…we can drag and drop our files…from our system straight into an event.…The question is: how will Final Cut Pro import this?…The answer becomes clear under Final Cut Pro's Preferences.…So, I'm here in my projects…and what I'd really like to do is go to my Finder…cuz that's where I'm gunna drag and drop from.…So I'm gunna go over into the Finder,…that's on my dock, and go into my system.…I have all my files stored on the external drive…that we saw in an earlier movie.…
I'll select that and go to my "FCPX ORGANIZING" folder,…double click to open it, and,…under the Motion Graphics folder,…I'll double click that. There are a few folders here.…I wanna go under the "vfx_aggressive_lights",…so I double click that and you'll see…that there are two clips here…that are named "DRAG AND DROP"and those are the ones…that we're gunna drag and drop into our computer.…So, I'll click on one, command click on the other,…and I have Final Cut open up here in the background.…
