- [Instructor] At the end of the day your library will balloon, as you render and build other synthetic files. Let's see how to clean all that up. I've had rendering off the entire time I've recorded this title. Just so you can see, here in Final Cut X, I can go up to the preferences menu and under playback you'll find the background render starts after three seconds. When I run with background render on, I usually have it wait five to 10 seconds til I take a significant break. .3 seconds is almost just too short, feels like almost it's interfering with me. But you don't even need to use background rendering. You can if you like, lasso clips that you have effects, or everything, and you can choose, under the modify menu, rendering a selection, ctrl + r, or render everything. When you render, or you build proxies, or you build optimize footage, it's going to actually make the library get bigger, whether it's internal or external.
