- [Nick] Hi, welcome to Final Cut Pro X Weekly. I'm Nick, and Jeff's not here this week. We're gonna take a look at creating a channel blur in motion for Final Cut Pro X. First question we're gonna ask in key concepts is why channel blur in the first place? What's the advantage of it? We're gonna create a Motion Effect for FCP X so that it's available for us in our effect browser. We're gonna make sure that we publish the attributes that we want to adjust and tweak in order to make use of it, and we're gonna use this effect in Final Cut Pro X. So why Channel Blur in the first place? Let's hop over to Final Cut Pro X. It is often known, specifically with photo editing, that a lot of times where there's noise in an image, it happens to occur on the blue channel. This is not in every single case, but it happens to occur more in the blue channel, so one way to have noise reduction inside of Final Cut is to just blur the blue channel by itself.
