Adding a LUT and what to do if you need more than FCP X has built in

- [Instructor] Final Cut has a number of normalization LUTs built in. I'd like to show you how they work and what you should do if you need a LUT that's not one of the built in LUTs to Final Cut. Final Cut X has some ability to handle footage that was shot in log space. You generally put a lookup table or a LUT to make it look normalized for ourselves. I don't have that here, but I'll show you how it works. Here in my miscellaneous footage in my GoPro clips, I'm going to select one or multiple clips, and I'm going to change this from Extended to Settings here over on the Inspector. And that gives me an interesting field here called Log Processing, and I can choose any one of these lookup tables. I'll pick, for example, ARRI C. Now isn't what this footage was shot with, but when I make that choice, you can see that lookup table take place and change the way the footage looks, translating it from a log space to what would be Rec. 709 correcting it, if you will.
