These days with digital technology, there is no excuse for not checking your footage on set. You can easily pop out a memory card and check how the color of your images look on a laptop. In this video, authors Richard Harrington and Robbie Carman discuss the importance of checking the color of your footage on set.
- Rich, in my mind, there's no excuse these days for not…checking your footage on set.…I've heard of way too many sob stories of people getting…back to their studio and going, oh, I just didn't know…it was like that, or I didn't know the white balance…was so screwy.…Everybody has a laptop on set these days,…I mean from the client, to the DP, to whoever,…we've got computers.…The simplest method of sort of previsualization…or visualization of your footage,…is to simply pop out the memory card of your…camera, which we did on camera here on site,…you can see this little still life scene we're shooting,…I'm going to take this card, and just pop it into my computer.…
- Now, the thing you want to be careful with is if you're…doing this on set, and there's data on there,…make sure that your laptop can properly read the card.…So, if your camera using some proprietary format…to the card, you might need to install a driver,…or you might need a special card reader, after all,…not all camera's are going to shoot to SD cards,…
