Using Cool Lights and the Kino kit

- For a solid, even beam of light, it's hard to beat a good old fashioned Tungsten Fresnel light. But often, when need a softer source. Rather than put a Fresnel light through a bunch of diffusion material, or a chimera, or bounce it to soften it, we could use florescent lighting, or LED lighting, which inherently soft and has the added benefit of needing a lot less power to operate. Now there are a lot of companies making florescent movie lights, but the leading brand is Kino Flo. Kino Flo is like the Kleenex of florescent movie lights. Now florescent lights, like you encounter in the laundromat or the grocery store, are not the same thing. Those are kind of ugly, have a bit of a green spike in the wavelength. These are specially formulated to be true, full-spectrum lights and look good on camera. Ok there are two basic kinds of Kino Flo. This is the traditional kind here. It's four florescent tubes.
