Shooting with a Higher Shutter Speed

- Sometimes I'll use shutter speed for technical benefits. We're here at a sports training facility, and if we were recording footage for analysis, we wanted to go back and look at those athletes, Rob, what might be the benefit of shooting with a shorter shutter? - [Rob] Less motion blur. When you go to a faster number, say 160th, 170th, something like that, that faster shutter speed is gonna give you less motion blur so for fast moving objects, sports, like you mentioned, or things like that, you're gonna get a little bit of sort of cleaner motion, less blur, but just keep in mind, Rich, that that is also gonna give you a little bit more of a staccato type movement when it comes to capturing video. Now this is a thing I see people coming from a photography background kind of making the mistake all the time, and that is, hey, I'm shooting outside or I'm in a brightly lit environment, and I'll bump up to one over 100 or one over 200 or 300, - [Rich] Why does it look jerky? - [Rob]…
